Help Us Build a Dedicated Digital Publishing Station

A Dedicated Digital Publishing Station for the Heritage
Dear friends of Auro e-Books,
For over a decade we have been sharing the works of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother as free e-books. Behind every title stands a quiet labour: scanning, OCR, proofreading, conversion. Today we want to take that labour to the next level — and we need your help.
We are raising funds for a dedicated digital publishing station that will let our AI-assisted digitization pipeline run at full speed: OCR of rare and fragile scans, language-model proofreading, and conversion into EPUB, MOBI and PDF.
Why it matters
- 30,000+ pages of rare texts are waiting in our pipeline — including the complete Sri Aurobindo and The Mother correspondence and the Collected Works.
- Our OCR benchmark reaches ~90% accuracy even on Devanagari, IAST and aged yellow paper — the AI proofreading pass then makes the text publishable.
- What now takes 33 days on our current server would take 3–7 days on a dedicated station.
The goal
- Base goal: $1,500 — Mac mini M6 32GB, enough to run the full pipeline day and night.
- Stretch goal: $2,500 — Mac mini M5 Pro 48GB, which roughly doubles the speed of archival work.
We will decide on the configuration on September 22. Whatever we raise beyond the base goal goes straight into a faster station and more books for everyone.
What your support already built
This year the site passed 1.3 million downloads and is now seeing 5,600+ clicks per month — twice what it saw six months ago. Every new book we publish is free for readers worldwide. Your contribution keeps that engine running.
Every contribution, however small, brings the heritage one step closer.
With gratitude,
The Auro e-Books Team
