Human Consciousness and Truth: Heidegger and Sri Aurobindo

Human Consciousness and Truth
Heidegger and Sri Aurobindo
Human Consciousness and Truth is a book of contemplations, reflections and meditations on some of the works of Martin Heidegger and Sri Aurobindo. Its author writes from many decades of dedicated study, and his aim is to create an awareness of the depths and heights of knowledge that these two thinkers explored and recorded in their writings — regions that, as he says, are reached only by the most persistent and devoted students of such authors and seers.
The book follows the movement of Heidegger’s later thought — from the end of Western metaphysics to technology, poetry and time — and reads it alongside Sri Aurobindo’s own metaphysics of consciousness. Three supplements open the subject further, and the last chapter is an introduction to yoga philosophy.

Preface
This is a book of contemplations, reflections, meditations, on some of the works of Heidegger and Sri Aurobindo that I hope will create an awareness of the depths and heights of knowledge that they explored and recorded in their writings.
Academic studies usually do not enter the depths or heights reached by these authors. These regions tend to be explored, and eventually known, only by the most persistent and devoted students of such authors and seers. Philosophy is not for everyone. In its original meaning and intention it is “wisdom.”
The effort made here is the result of many years of such dedicated study, with the intention of attaining wisdom. It is not academic. In fact, I have been immersed in this literature for several decades, and have experienced through its guidance what I consider to be the utmost limits of my mental and spiritual capacity.
It is therefore a study that is for me of immense intellectual and spiritual value. The record of the pursuit that is presented here can only be a token of that value. At best, I hope it will ignite something like the spark of interest needed to pursue and discover the riches that it has enabled me to find.
