The Human Aspiration

Today we commence our study of the most important work of Sri Aurobindo, ‘The Life Divine.’ Sri Aurobindo started developing the theme of Life Divine in 1914 in the pages of the Arya, from the first number issued in August 1914. The work went on for a number of years up to January 1919. He started revising it only after 1938, when he had an accident and changed his routine. It was then that he gave the final shape to the Life Divine. We have still those pages of The Arya on which he had made a number of corrections in the margin in black ink. They were typed out mostly by Prithwi Singh, Nolini and some of us. He would go through the typescripts and revise them again. It would be retyped and he would again add.
