Mukund Ainapure

Professionally, Mukund Ainapure (69) is a practising Chartered Accountant with a distinguished academic record, having co-authored around 40 best-selling textbooks on Accounting, Finance, and Taxation for Mumbai University students since 1990. These books have been published by Manan Prakashan, Prentice Hall India, among others.

With over 45 years of dedicated study of Sri Aurobindo’s Vedic writings and expertise in creating accessible books on complex subjects, Mukund’s series of volumes on the Veda (Companion to Sri Aurobindo’s Vedic Works and Veda in the Light of Sri Aurobindo) is an invaluable resource for both intellectual explorers and spiritual seekers.

Sri Aurobindo translated approximately 3,650 Vedic verses out of a total of 10,550, primarily through his works such as The Secret of the Veda, Hymns to the Mystic Fire, and Vedic and Philological Studies. His objective was to “indicate for those who care to follow the clue I have myself received and the main indications by which the Veda itself helps us to arrive at them.”

Inspired by this vision, Mukund Ainapure embarked on a journey to explore the 6,900 Vedic verses not translated by Sri Aurobindo, seeking to provide a spiritual interpretation rooted in Sri Aurobindo’s insights.

To support this endeavor, Mukund initially compiled a comprehensive Companion Series on Sri Aurobindo’s Vedic works, spanning 15 volumes. This series offers English renderings by Sri Aurobindo of each Sanskrit word in the Vedic verses he translated. The series is available on auro-ebooks.com.

Mukund’s ongoing project, Veda in the Light of Sri Aurobindo, aims to translate selected Vedic verses (those not translated by Sri Aurobindo) in a series of volumes. His forthcoming publication, Vedic Dictionary in the Light of Sri Aurobindo, is compiled from the database extracted from the Companion Series. Another upcoming work, Key to Rigveda, provides a Pada-Patha (word-by-word breakdown) for each verse in Mandala 1-10 of the Rig Veda not translated by Sri Aurobindo, with meanings and notes based on Vedic Dictionary in the Light of Sri Aurobindo. This volume will be an invaluable resource for anyone interested in interpreting or translating Rigveda verses through the lens of Sri Aurobindo’s spiritual insights.

The Veda in the Light of Sri Aurobindo series will be published in deity-wise and mandala-wise volumes for ease of access (e.g., Indra, Lord of Light in Mind – Mandala 1; Soma Pavamana, Pure Delight of Existence – Mandala 9). The previews are presently available on auro-ebooks.com. While ebooks will be accessible on auro-ebooks.com, print versions will be available through Pothi.com.

This series aspires to help realize Sri Aurobindo’s vision of translating the entire Rig Veda, revealing its secret spiritual meanings, the true sense of Vedic symbols, and the psychological functions of the Vedic gods.
